"MOZY" NAMED RECIPIENT OF DUTCH MASTERS III HIGH-POINT BONUS

Jerome, ID, October 2, 2008—In Mozambique ("Mozy"), a 2-year-old filly by Rare News out of Gotatickettowin (by Chicks Beduino), is the recipient of the Dutch Masters III high-point bonus award for points achieved in qualifying for and placing in both the Emmett and Idaho Falls Futurities, in Idaho, in 2008.

Dutch Masters III sponsor a $25,000 Triple Crown Bonus for the owner of any horse that is eligible and wins the Emmett, Jerome and Idaho Falls Futurities. If there is no "triple crown" winner, points are awarded to horses who run in the trials and compete in those races.

Michael and Teri W. Dinnell's filly, In Mozambique, si 102, placed 2nd in the trials for both the Emmett and Idaho Falls futurities. She finished 3rd in the Emmett Futurity and 3rd in the Idaho Falls Futurity, making her the high point horse for 2008. Dinnells, of St. Ignatius, Montana, will receive $4,000 for Mozy's accomplishments.

Denny and Sandy Weigt, of Jerome, Idaho, are the recipients of the 2nd place award of $1,000. Their Special leader filly Sum Special Hum was the fastest qualifier for and the winner of this year's Emmett Futurity.

Michael and Teri Dinnell feel honored to receive this award from Dutch Masters III. They think very highly of Denny Boer and his fiancιe Lisa Anderson and feel privileged to receive an award established by them for horses racing in Idaho.

IN MOZAMBIQUE ("MOZY") FINISHES 3RD IN IDAHO FALLS FUTURITY WITH A 102 SPEED INDEX

Sandy Downs, Idaho Falls, ID, September 28, 2008—In Mozambique, 2-year-old filly by Rare News out of Gotatickettowin (by Chicks Beduino), broke hard from the 5th hole (same position as in the trials) and ran relentlessly to finish a solid 3rd in the Idaho Falls Futurity. She finished with a time of 17.786, which earned her a 102 speed index, in the fastest race of her career.

Winning the $27,550 futurity was the favorite Streakin Cherry Cola, a very nice Chickie Cherry Cola gelding (out of Streakin Dot Dash by Streakin Dash). Streakin Cherry Cola, trained by Jay Pitcher and owned by Kapp Investments and Kirk Woolf, ran the 350-yards in 17.635 (106 speed index). Finishing 2nd was Heza Hot Habit, a Red Hot Rhythm gelding trained by Jay Pitcher and owned by Leslie Braker. His time was 17.646 (105 speed index). (See stallionesearch results.)

The other horses finishing the non-graded futurity were: 4th Dash In Traffic, 5th First Classy Rhythm, 6th Maxamillionthree, 7th Stormin Leader, 8th Easy Evening Snow, 9th WNV Virus Detected, and 10th CH Bishops Choice.

Mozy, owned and bred by Michael & Teri Dinnell of Circle D Horses, is trained by Brent Bowman. Mark Boag rode Mozy across the wire. She earned $2,755 for her efforts, bringing her race earnings total to $5,186. She ended her 2-year-old race season with a record of 2 seconds and 2 thirds from 7 starts.

In Mozambique is now back home in Montana enjoying a big pasture and familiar faces. She will rest up before returning to the track next spring.

"MOZY" QUALIFIES FOR IDAHO FALLS FUTURITY

Sandy Downs, Idaho Falls, ID, September 14, 2008—After a hard, fast break from the 5-hole that caused the powerfully built filly to go right down to her knees and nose as the gates flew open in the 2nd trial for the Idaho Falls Futurity, In Mozambique (called "Mozy"),  2-year-old-daughter of Rare News out of Gotatickettowin (by Chicks Beduino), got back up and flew toward the wire, finishing the 350-yard trial 2nd in :18.219.

"Mozy," bred and owned by Michael and Teri Dinnell, was the 6th fastest qualifier to the September 28 Futurity. She is trained by Brent Bowman and was ridden by Mark Boag. She had an 89 speed index on that run. From down on her knees and nose to back up and running, Mozy showed a lot of heart and determination. She pinned her ears back and she ran hard, not wanting to be left in the dust.

Finishing first in Mozy's trial was Stormin Leader (by Special Leader), out of a Wranglers Ridge daughter. Stormin Leader is owned by H & H Quarter Horses.

The fastest qualifier to the Idaho Falls Futurity was Streakin Cherry Cola (:18.127), a gelding by Chick Cherry Cola., owned by Kapp Investments and Kirk Woolf, trained by Jay Pitcher (see other qualifiers here).

The finish line strip below shows Mozy (green #5) stretching out and reaching forward for a nice finish to her heat.

Mozy has a record of 0-2-1 from 6 starts and earnings of $2,431. Her best speed index is 91 and she's stakes-placed.

RARE NEWS FILLY POSTS FASTEST WORK OF 21 2-YEAR-OLDS AT BLUE RIBBON DOWNS ON SEPTEMBER 11TH

Blue Ribbon Downs, Oklahoma, September 11, 2008—Da Blood Speaks, a 2-year-old Rare News filly out of the Wholelottastirrin mare Jetstir, posted the fastest work time (12.62 breezing) of 21 2-year-olds at Blue Ribbons Downs on September 11th.

Da Blood Speaks, owned by Kendrick Wright, of South Carolina, was a late May 2006 filly. Because of her late foaling date, Wright has not pushed her too fast this year. She will soon be having her first out, however, and Da Blood Speaks will become Rare News's 8th race starter.

Da Blood Speaks, February 2008. She is by Rare News out of Jetstir, a very nice Wholelotta Stirrin mare.

UPDATE ON ELKO DERBY & NORTH DAKOTA BRED FUTURITY

She did earn $1,134 for her efforts, however. The race was won by Shake Em Diva (by Royal Shake Em). Comes Naturally is in good shape and didn't injure herself or chip in her stumbling, which is great news. Her connections plan to race her again next year.
