Monita (by Joe
Moore) was one of the toughest Quarter racing mares of all time. Her
career spanned from 1949 to 1955. She had 89 official starts and an
unknown number of match races. She won 30 races -- including 10
stakes races (at distances of 250 yards to 440 yards) at a number of
tracks around the country. She equaled or set 7 track records from
south Texas to northern California. Monita set a world record in her
career debut.
Monita, AAAT, earned $44,296. She
was 1951 Co-World Champion Quarter Running Mare & 1951 Co-Champion
Quarter Running Horse.
