FRED COLES is a very well-made 2005
colt by Rare News, si 92, out of the
Moon Lark mare Ah Yes,
si 88.
Fred Coles
is also a very well-made ol' cowboy in Western Montana
whose character, honesty and stubbornness are almost legendary. We
gave this
colt the name Fred Coles in hopes that he could measure up to the cowboy we
think so much of. It is a good name—and we think this colt has the fire in
his eye and the stubbornness necessary to do the name justice.
We
sold Ah Yes (in foal to Rare News) and her weanling filly to Marni
Moore, with the discussion that we would be
interested in buying
Ah Yes's 2005
foal, especially if it
were a filly. It wasn't a filly,
but things worked out for all of us so that we could
buy Ah Yes's
Rare News colt when he was
weaned.
So,
Fred Coles is "home." He has a very powerful pedigree—his grandsires
First Down Dash and
Moon Lark
are
World Champion racing Quarter Horses and Champion Sires, too. His sire is a 2-time winner and finalist in
the Kindergarten Futurity, the
Governor's Cup and the MBNA America California
Challenge.
His dam is from the
family of stakes
winner and producer Dashin
Angel, si 102, a
daughter of Dash
For Cash, and stakes winner
and
producer Louton's
Angel,
si 95, by Azure Te.
Another granddam, Miss
Louton,
si 100 (by Tonto
Bars Gill), earned Champion 2-Year-Old Filly,
Champion 3-Year-Old Filly, and Champion Mare honors. She had 25 wins and earned
$74,717 (in the 1950s). Miss Louton is dam to 13 foals, 12 performers, 10 ROM,
including Camptown Boy, si 9 5 (by Three Bars),
and Camptown Girl, si 100 (by Breeze Bar), dam of the incomparable AQHA Hall of Fame horse Town Policy (earnings of $862,180).
FRED COLES' DAM,
Ah
Yes, has 4 AQHA foals, 2 of racing age, 2 starters, one winner and one stakes finalist.
FRED COLES is a handsome gelding with a nice disposition. He has muscles in all the right places and he has terrific breakaway speed. Fred has a short
back, a nice slope to his shoulders, a big hip, great bone and a lot of fire. We have great expectations for
his future.
Eligibilities:
Speedhorse
Races, Speedhorse Barrel Races, Beehive, Bitterroot, Rocky Mountain Classic,
Northern Plains Futurity, AQHRA Canada Quarter Horse Cup, Kansas. Jackpot.
MBNA Challenge Nominated.
FRED COLES is offered for sale for $5,000. He
will take someone to the winner's circle in 2007!
