Rare News - This Babe is Royal, This Snow is Royal

Royally bred & beautifully made filly by Rare News, si 92,

race winning & stakes performing son (5th Kindergarten Futurity-G1, etc.)

of First Down Dash, out of race winning daughter of

Champion This Snow is Royal.

Her dam is from the family of Blue Hen Hall of Fame mare FL Lady Bug.

PEDIGREE               ELIGIBILITIES

THIS BABE IS NEWS is by Rare News, si 92, out of This Babe is Royal, si 93 (by This Snow is Royal, si 101).

This babe is news is pretty filly with a lot of GO. She was born on the 16th birthday of our youngest son, Nick. At just a few hours of age she was already worrying her mother no end as she ran laps, bucked, kicked and played in her large foaling stall (while it snowed outside).

We call her "Harley." Right now we have "harley" any money and "harley" any foals coming in 2008, but this filly is very pretty, she has a big "engine," she thinks she's fast, and she makes a lot of noise!

This babe is news crosses 4-times to the great Dash For Cash, through his outstanding son First Down Dash (two times) and exceptional daughter Florentine (once), as well as through the noteworthy producer, Profit Plan. She crosses twice to the great Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse Hall-of-Fame stallion (whose blood has richly improved Quarter Horses) Beduino (through leading sire and Hall-of-Fame son, Chicks Beduino, and through leading broodmare Chrome Tapestry).

She also goes back to the great Blue Hen and Hall-of-Fame mare FL Lady Bug three times (twice through Lady Bug's Moon, once through The Lady Bug). Throw in a little Raise Your Glass TB, Trippy Dip TB, First Prize Rose, and J.O. Tobin TB, and you have a filly truly royally bred -- one with incredible potential for racing success!

HER sire, Rare News, si 92, is a race winning, stakes performing son of all-time leading sire (and champion) First Down Dash (Rare News was 5th in the Kindergarten Futurity-G1, etc.). Rare News had just 4 race starters in his first crop to go to the track (in 2007). Of those 4, 2 were winners, 4 were money earners, 4 earned their Race ROMs, and 1 was a 3-times stakes finalist!

From six starts at 3 and 4, "Harley's" dam, This Babe is Royal, has one win and one 3rd and an 93 speed index. In her limited number of starts Babe never had a speed index below 72. She is a gorgeous mare with a lot of class and attitude. This Babe is Royal is the dam of 2 foals, a yearling colt by Rare News and this filly.

her 2nd dam, Dashing Proposal (by First Down Dash), placed at two in races. She earned $3,146. She is dam to four foals, one to race, one winner, one ROM. Dashing Proposal died in 2003.

THIS BABE IS NEWS's 3rd dam, Proposed Toast, si 95 (by Raise Your Glass TB) had four wins at 2 and 3. She placed 3rd in the Blue Ribbon Futurity. She is dam of 9 Quarter Horse foals, 9 to race, 3 winners, 4 ROM, including: Valid Proposal, si 102 (by On A High), 4 times winner with earnings of $131,104, Superior Race Horse, 2nd Kansas Futurity-G1, Finalist in Rainbow Derby-G1, etc.; Toasting The Heavens, si 92 (by Pie In The Sky), winner at 2 and 3, $11,551.

Toasting The Heavens is dam of 12 foals, 8 to race, 5 winners, 6 ROM, including: Toasting the Chick, si 108 (by Chicks Beduino), 5 wins, 3 to 6, $29,092, 2nd Turf Paradise Quarter Horse Championship; Heza Rare Toast, si 97 (by Rare Form), 2 wins at 3, $13,438, 2nd QHBC Sunbelt Juvenile H., Finalist in Kansas Jackpot Derby;  Glitter Galore, si 90,  3 wins, $18,328. Glitter Galore (by On A High) is the dam of 3 foals, to to race, all winners, 2 ROM, including Runningtofast, si 94 (by Crimewave), winner at 2 and 3, $29,622, Manitoba Speed Horse Derby, 2nd Prairie Gold-G3, Manitoba Speed Horse Futurity, Finalist Canadian Quarter Horse Cup Futurity-G2.

Proposed Toast, her 3rd dam, is also dam of Cash Proposal, si 101, 4 wins, $16,429, Superior Race Horse, Finalist in West Texas Derby-G2, West Texas Maturity-G2.

fourth dam, The Lady Bug (by Paul H. TB), was dam of 14 foals, 12 to race, 8 winners, 8 ROM. The Lady Bug is a daughter of the legendary mare Hall of Fame mare (and Dam of Distinction) FL Lady Bug.

"Harley's" 5th dam, FL Lady Bug (by Sergeant) has been honored by AQHA as a Hall of Fame mare. She is the dam of 14 foals, 11 to race, 10 winners, 10 ROM, including Top Ladybug, si 100 (by Top Deck TB), 17 wins in 33 starts, 2 to 4, $195,973, AQHA Champion, Superior Race Horse, multiple stakes winner, etc., Ladybug's Moon, si 100 (by Top Moon), 11 wins at 2 and 3, $191,536, Superior Race Horse, stakes winner, multiple stakes-placed, etc., Lady Bug Leo, si 95 (by Leopie), 6 wins at 2 and 3, $10,152, stakes winner, etc., Barne's Ladybug, si 100 (by Mr Bar None), 6 wins at 2 and 3, $112,786, multiple stakes-placed, etc.

THIS BABE IS NEWS is a firecracker of a filly with a lot of personality and athleticism. She is very quick. Harley is correct and well-made. She has very good bone and a lot of muscle. She's bold and has a bit of an attitude. And she absolutely loves to run! As she grows and sheds off, she is a beautiful dark chestnut, just like her sire. She's a real eye-catcher with those white rear socks. She is willing to work and easy to work with. We are very excited to watch This Babe is News grow into herself and become the horse she was bred to be.

ELIGIBILITIES: Speedhorse Races, Speedhorse Barrel Races, Bitterroot, Beehive, Rocky Mountain Classic, Northern Plains Futurity, Kansas Jackpot, Iowa Double Gold, Bosen Races, VGBRA Program. Challenge enrolled.
