 Sorrel AQHA Colt

Rare News - This Babe Is Royal, This Snow Is Royal

Royally bred & beautifully made colt by Rare News, si 92,

race winning & stakes performing son (5th Kindergarten Futurity-G1, etc.)

of First Down Dash, out of race winning daughter of

Champion This Snow is Royal.

PEDIGREE     MATERNAL PRODUCTION HISTORY     RARE NEWS      ELIGIBILITIES

This Babe Is Royal (and the rest of us) waited a very long time for her first foal to get here, but he is very much worth the wait! This stout, sorrel colt with a blazed face and two tall rear stockings should have arrived as early as February 21. Finally, in the early morning hours of March 18, Babe foaled -- a very strong, very ready-to-run, very good looking sorrel Rare News colt!

We would like to have named him "The News is Out" or "The Big News," because of our anticipation for a safe delivery and healthy foal for Babe, but AQHA already has horses of record with those names. His name is This News Is Royal -- and to us (and his mama), this News son really is royal -- and his pedigree only backs our opinions up.

This News Is Royal has an incredible pedigree -- a veritable listing of "who's who" among the great racing Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds of today and yesterday.

His sire, Rare News, si 92, is a race winning, stakes performing son of all-time leading sire (and champion) First Down Dash (Rare News was 5th in the Kindergarten Futurity-G1, etc.). His dam, This Babe is Royal, si 93, is a race winning daughter of leading sire (and champion) This Snow is Royal.

This handsome colt crosses 4-times to the great Dash For Cash, through his outstanding son First Down Dash (two times) and exceptional daughter Florentine (once), as well as through the noteworthy producer, Profit Plan. He crosses twice to the great Thoroughbred (whose blood has richly improved Quarter Horses) Beduino (through leading sire and Hall-of-Fame son, Chicks Beduino, and through leading broodmare Chrome Tapestry).

He also goes back to the great Bluehen and Hall-of-Fame mare FL Lady Bug three times (twice through Lady Bug's Moon, once through The Lady Bug). Throw in a little Raise Your Glass TB, Trippy Dip TB, First Prize Rose, and J.O. Tobin TB, and you have a colt truly royally bred -- one with incredible potential for racing success!

In the meantime, This News is Royal ("Newser") shows incredible persistence, intelligence and heart. He already seems to know just what he wants and is smart enough to try several ways to get it! He is a very nice colt with a bold, friendly personality. He is correct and strong, plus, he's packed with muscle, great bone and speed. He travels beautifully and he's very quick.

This News is Royal is for sale. Although we had wanted to sell him as a yearling, we will offer him for sale now. He is offered with a FREE breeding in 2008 to his sire, Rare News (for an approved mare). Price: $6,000. Contact Circle D Horses for more information.

SOLD 10-11-2007. This News is Royal has been sold to a racing partnership in El Paso, TX. He will race as a 2-year-old in New Mexico. In the meantime, "Newser" will stay at Circle D until next year. Congratulations to the new owners of This News is Royal! We are confident we'll see you & this colt in many win photos!

The Quarter Racing Record, Nov. 15, 1983—

Proposed Toast takes consolation

Raise Your Glass fillies ran first and second in the $58,498 Heritage Place consolation, with Robert Moore's Proposed Toast getting the verdict by a neck. Tom Warren trains the winner and Roy Brooks rode her over the 400 yard course in :20.96 seconds.

Proposed Toast, who is out of the Paul H mare The Lady Bug, ran third in the Blue Ribbon Futurity last spring. After the Heritage Place consolation, Warren told The Record, "This is her first time on an off track. I was a little concerned about it, but it looks like she handled it alright! We're going to take her home and turn her out now. She'll go to California next year, then come back here and run in the Heritage Derby."

Second money went to A Toast To Mira, a Raise Your Glass - Miss Go Twist filly owned by Rex and Sue Cox, trained by Robert Dimitt and ridden by Buster Jones.
